A Potter’s Book

Filed under: Uncategorized — bowie croisant @ 3:16 pm

I recently read Bernard Leach’s A Potter’s Book.  It was interesting, informative and, although a bit dated, extremely relevant.  Throughout the book Leach’s strongly Chinese influenced aesthetic is discussed and reinforced.  He states and restates many times that he considers Sung Dynasty ware to be the pinnacle of refinement and beauty achieved to date.  There is a good amount of basic technical knowledge concerning a broad range of topics……

damn, i’m out of time……….gotta head south to pittsburg, I’m going to attend the opening celebration of Jun Kineko’s massive beehive kiln!  Very exciting…This represents the culmination of a three year project!   I will report on this event after I return, and post some pictures!
